Jim Lewis will look into the root problem of the oak tree by the back door. Our bobsled may be displayeed in the front yard over the winter. Grant applications for financial support are being written and layouts finalized for the Native American exhibit at the Depot next summer. We will obtain a small freezer for conservation purposes. An original watercolor of the Depot donate by artist Nancy Maas has been framed and hung over the Depot fireplace. The Depot ticketmaster's office restoration project was discussed. Bob Heath and Steve Goslee have met with city manager Gary Harsch to discuss grants for total Depot restoration needs. MICHIGAN QUARTERS STILL AVAILABLE
A few of the new Michigan State Quarter sets designated for the Society are still available at the Charlevoix State Bank, 111 State Street. Proceeds from the sale of these specially mounted coins benefit the Society. The sets would make perfect stocking stuffers.

WUNDERBAR!
Museum co-director Steve Goslee reports that German tourists recently visited the Harsha House on the recommendation of a German guidebook. They were on a Lake Michigan Circle Tour and Charlevoix plus the Harsha House were highlighted.
We can only speculate how this gratifying mention came to be. David Miles vaguely remembers a young German man at the museum a few years ago who mentioned thinking of doing a guidebook of our area.

HERE AND THERE ODDS AND ENDS
Society members Ed and Sue O'Neill of Columbus, Ohio were in Argentina in August where they picked up the bilingual Buenos Aires Herald. In it was Washington Post political writer David Broder's annual column written from Beaver Island with mention of Charlevoix... the Pillars of the Society Depot pillar replacement project has taken in $700... Please help us raise more for this important restoration... A donation of a handcrafted tool chest made by George Meggison, reportedly the first settler of Charlevoix County, plus a multitude of tools that belonged to the Meggison-Medad Thompson-Joslyn family descendants, is now part of our pioneers exhibit... The newsletter goies out to just over 400 addresses... 500 more copies of the Bob Miles' Charlevoix II book have been ordered... Summer/winter members - be sure to notify us of any address or winter/summer time span changes so all correspondence reaches you.
