| The Historical Society is trying something new this year! In conjunction with the Charlevoix Area Garden Clubs, we are hosting a Twelfth Night party as a fundraiser for continuing support of the creation and maintenance of the Depot Heritage Garden.
When: Wednesday, January 5.
Where: 6:00pm at Cinema III; 8:00pm at The Depot
The evening will begin with a private showing of the Shakespeare comedy Twelfth Night at Cinema III. Then the group will head to the Depot for a wonderful evening of fine food, music, and dancing in the spirit of Ye Olde English Style. On the menu: luscious hors d'oeuvres, tomato basil soup, sandwiches, King's Cake, coffee, tea, and wassail. Bring Your Own preferred Beverages. To enter into the spirit of a true Twelfth Night celebration, you may wear masks and costumes. (No, we are not holding a Henry VIII/Anne Boleyn lookalike contest.)
Price: $40 per person. Send your checks to the Charlevoix Historical Society, P. O. Box 525, Charlevoix, MI 49720. All proceeds from this event will go toward the Garden Clubs continuing effort to make the Heritage Garden that adjoins our historic Depot one of the most beautiful places in town, with the support of the Society.
We hope to see many of you there. Please join us for a delightful event.

MEMBERSHIP DUES REMINDER
It’s that time of year when we review the membership list and issue a final reminder to members who haven't paid their 2004-2005 dues. Check to see if there is a dash circled in red on your mailing label. This indicates a membership in arrears and we must receive your dues for continued membership. If you have paid and somehow it did not get entered on our computer, be sure to notify us immediately so we can rectify the error. If we do not hear from you within a month, this will be the last newsletter you will receive. Your continued membership, interest, and support is very important. Please help us continue the important work of preserving the historic legacy of Charlevoix and the Charlevoix area.

MISCELLANY
(This incorporates items discussed at the December Board meeting.)
The museum store took in $784.65 in November.
The annual Christmas dinner at the Grey Gables on December 7 saw one of our biggest turnouts with 62 members and guests, plus six musicians from the North Winds Recorder Society. We could have seated about three more people.
Our photo digitization and preservation project has passed the 500 mark of images saved. Stop in to see how it's done. (We've received inquiries from three area museums as to how we are approaching and implementing this massive project.)
The museum will be closed for about two weeks in January for the construction of storage units near the back entrance. The side (office) door will remain open for those needing to conduct business or obtain items in the store.
A thank-you to all who purchased the Michigan State Quarter Sets at the Charlevoix State Bank and the museum in support of the Society.
Preview of coming attractions (all events at the Depot): February 1: Valentine's potluck and party; March 1: King Strang program and St. Patricks' party; April 5: David Miles illustrated talk on historic vessels in Charlevoix; May 3: Program on area lumbering; June 7: Bob Morgridge program on Greensky Church.
We are considering having an Antiques Roadshow-type of appraisal event at the Harsha House.
The museum store will be getting a cash register to help track our inventory and keep sales records.
We have received $3750 in grants and donations toward mounting the "Ancient Charlevoix" exhibit at the Depot next year.
Due to increased high school senior class essay submissions, the Society will institute its own scholarship award program to augment the Kohler/Bartlett award that has been in effect for many years.
