HARSHA HOUSE EXHIBITS
Five exhibits, new for 2006, have been mounted at the Harsha House museum.
Noted local author and educator Bill Ratigan occupies a display case next to, appropriately enough, our longtime treasure Ernest Hemingway's marriage license. Bill wrote many well-received books, both fiction and non-fiction, based upon Great Lakes history, plus other works.
The extensive Halverson family, originnaly form Norway, occupies the ramp wall, with samples of handiwork from all of them.
The cement carrier Challenger, a frequent visitor to the polnt on South Point since the 1960s, is 100 years olf this year. We honor her with a ship's model and photographs.
The Chicago Club resort is 125 years old this year, and we salute it with a huge photographic reminiscence.
Finally, our lighthouses have been almost symbolic of Charlevoix's existence since 1885. This year the south pier light was turned over to the city and to us. We celebrate all three of them with dramatic photos, artifacts, and original art depicting them through the years.
