10th Annual Spaghetti Dinner at Villager Pub
It’s that time of year again! Intrepid Board members and Society volunteers whip on aprons, put on sensible shoes, memorize the long list of three items, and once more demonstrate their wait staff skills honed over past seasons at Terry Left’s Villager Pub for our annual all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner. This is our tenth anniversary outing for one of our major fund-raisers with ALL tips going toward support of the Society.
There is a new wrinkle this year! Terry is donating the spaghetti and garlic bread dinner portion of the menu, a $6.95 value, entirely to the Society! Thus we hope that everyone who orders spaghetti will be especially generous with their tips, which will go not only toward general support of the Society, but will help with the lighthouse and Depot restoration projects and the ongoing photo archive digitization and preservation project (9000 images done, about 5000 to 6000 to go).
When: Wednesday, November 7 From 5 to 9 P. M.
Where: The Villager Pub 427 Bridge Street at Antrim Street
Additional menu items:
- 2-Piece Whitefish Basket with
- Cole Slaw and Fries: $8.50
- Burrito: $8.95
Again we will have door prizes! Grand prize is dinner for two at Terry’s Place restaurant, second prize a 2008 Historic Photos calendar, and third prize a 2007 Christmas bulb ornament showing a view of yachts docked on Round Lake.
Join us for an always fun evening of excellent food and good company, for an always good cause. Our thanks once more to Terry and his patient and supportive crew for teaching us how to keep our thumbs out of the spaghetti, and for helping to make these events such a success. (The evening will also be non-smoking.)
MUSEUM FALL HOURS
Until Saturday, November 17, opening hours will be Thursday through Saturday 1-4.
Tuesday through Saturday hours will resume from November 20 through the end of the year except for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
LIBRARY RECEIVES PLATE
In the last newsletter it was reported that the Charlevoix Public Library needed to complete its collection of Charlevoix commemorative plates issued years ago by the Shop of the Gulls. Only one remained missingthe Harsha House. We’re happy to report the library received one within days.
MISCELLANEOUS
Anyone who would like to serve on the spaghetti evening wait staff call Mick Smith at 347-2285. The annual Christmas dinner will be held at the Grey Gables on Tuesday, December 4. The museum store took in $3268 in September. Work on replacing sections of the Depot flooring with wood flooring from the old gymnasium has begun. An illustrated channel, pier, and lighthouse history booklet is in the works, hopefully the first of a series that will touch on many aspects of Charlevoix’s history.
E-MAIL ADDRESS REMINDER
We would like to remind the membership that the e-mail address on the letterhead is no longer valid. It is now chxhistory@sbcglobal.net. This new address will appear when we reorder letterhead stationery in a couple of months.
