Mission Statement
The Charlevoix Historical Society is dedicated to the acquisition, preservation, and protection of objects and places of historical value, to the dissemination of information regarding these objects and places, and to the bringing together of all peoples interested in the history of the Charlevoix area.
Our History
The Charlevoix Historical Society was first organized in November of 1879. It was active from 1893 to 1903, then active again in 1911. The Society reorganized into a determinedly active organization on May 11, 1972, with 17 charter members.
And Now...
The Society provides several programs during the year for the membership and the community pertaining to local history and other activities of a historical nature.
Donations, membership dues, and user fees provide funding to carry out the work of the Society.
A monthly newsletter is published to keep the membership informed of programs and other activities of the Society.
Proceeds from special fundraisers provide monies for the repair and maintenance of the Harsha House Museum and Railroad Depot.
